NZ Motorhome Rentals recommends

Day one: Head out into the wild on board one of Queenstown's many jet boat providers. Visit a number of surreal sites for gold mining set in between some of the world's most beautiful scenery. See both historic canyons and several locations where the Lord of the Rings was filmed. Many locations are also steeped in tradition, being the setting for many ancient Maori myths and legends. Jet boating is an adrenaline fueled way to see some of the most beautiful and remote locations in the region! We recommend visiting one of Queenstown's stunning cafes to refuel and make your way forward into the wild. Take your hire campervan to one of many fully equipped camp grounds and bed down for the night.

Day two: Get out into nature and hike some of New Zealand's most incredible nature scapes. Queenstown is central to many of New Zealand's fabled great walks and the perfect location to explore the region in depth. Head from location to location on your own schedule by hiring your very own motorhome. If you're pressed for time, the walk to the Routeburn Falls Hut is a great option. With the track entrance located only 45 minutes from central Queenstown in Glenorchy, the track is only 4 - 5 hours (roughly 9km) return. We recommend seeking additional guidance from iSite and the Department of Conservation for any weather warning and detailed track information and updates. Be sure to pack a lunch, plenty of water and several hours of daylight before heading back to your campervan to hire a spot at a near by camp ground to rest for the night in Queenstown.

Day three: Queenstown is home to some of New Zealand's most stunning wine regions. Take your campervan and pack it up somewhere safe. Rent some bicycles and hit the trails cycling between the wineries. Sticking the theme of your self guided motorhome rental holiday, take your group from beautiful vineyard to vineyard. Full and half day guided winery cycle tours are available to get that extra added insight from a local expert wine guide. The winery cellar doors feature many exceptional restaurants, so take an hour or two and enjoy the highest quality cuisine on offer.

Day four: It's time to take it up another notch and hit the mountain biking trials in the heart of the region, the trails are maintained by the Queenstown Mountain Biking Club and are some of the best in class. Make sure you pack plenty of food and water a huge day out on the trails. After spending a day out on the trails, head out to get some high quality rest and relaxation at the famous Onsen Hot Pools (don't forget to book in, this place is popular). Then cruise into town for a dinner at one of Queenstown's many restaurants along the water front. Take your rental home to a new camp ground with a view and bed down for the evening.

Day five: Jump on the saddle and explore the Queenstown region on horseback with one of the many providers of guided horse riding in the region. Trekking on horse back is an epic and traditional way to see the inner Kaurau River and Glenorchy from the foot of the remarkables. Book in tonight to see the stunning sights over heads and go Stargazing with Skyline Queenstown. Talented guides will highlight for you the epic milky way and many constellations for your viewing pleasure.

Day six: The Queenstown markets are open every weekend from 9am to 4pm and offer a plethora of locally made goods and delicious deli style stalls featuring food and drink from the heart of the region. Why not spend tonight hopping from bar to bar and enjoy the warmth of an open outdoor fire place and mulled wine. Enjoy your night aboard your motorhome and hire a spot in a comfortable campervan park.

Day seven: Finish up your Queenstown adventure with a 4 wheel drive day and hit the trail on self guided 4 wheel drive truck or quad bike adventure. Take your pick of a muddy epic blasting your way through the back country or take in an authentic Queenstown experience tripping it through a high country station on an electric bike.

Arrowtown is one of New Zealand's most picturesque towns and a must see destination only 20 minutes from your flexible campervan rental from Queenstown Airport. With a rich history rooted in gold mining, Arrowtown is close to a number of golf courses, the stunning Lake Hayes, and features many restaurants and cafes. Autumn Festival in Arrowtown is a high point of the year as the leaves of trees that line the streets turn from green to a rich gold heralding the onset of Winterfest in Queenstown.
